The most important priority in life is our spiritual life. Our physical life is obviously high on our list of daily activities, but our spiritual life ultimately informs us how we are to live our life now and into eternity. I invite you to read through the pages on the right side of this blog to see how God created us to grow spiritually and receive guidance for our journey throughout our life. God gives us a clue of how to do this when he says in Isaiah 57:15, “I dwell on a high and holy place, and also with the contrite and lowly of spirit In order to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite." Jesus Christ gives a further clue when he says in John 14:6, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.”

The Season of Preparing for the Birth Jesus Christ

The Season of Advent

Blessed Be That Child!

by Bill Bergstrom

I would like to invite all of you to use the Advent devotion in preparation for celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ on Christmas Day. The devotion can be downloaded in three ways by using the links below.

Advent is the beginning of the Christian year and has been set aside as the time when we are to prepare ourselves for the coming of Christ and begins on the fourth Sunday before Christmas. During the Advent and Christmas Seasons everyone is encouraged to prepare themselves for the coming of Christ by worshipping and honoring Him by making Him the focus of our lives. In addition to the weekly service a few ways to do this are to use an Advent Wreath, the weekly Scripture, and use the devotional guide, “Blessed Be That Child,” each day beginning on Sunday, November 27.

“Blessed Be That Child” is a hymn that was written very early in the history of the Church by Ephraim of Syria. The hymn is a hymn of praise about Christ that focused on the wonder of the Incarnation. In the hymn he sought to explore who Jesus Christ is, what he has done for us, and why we should worship him.

Have a wonderful Christian season as you celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ!
